The last thing Ainsley Barrett expected for her twenty-ninth birthday was to be simultaneously dumped, kicked out, and stranded in a ditch during a Colorado snowstorm. But here she is: broke, homeless, and getting first aid administered by the most annoyingly gorgeous man she has ever met.

After the airbag deploys and the dust settles, Ainsley finds herself sleeping on an inflatable mattress in her mother’s double-wide trailer with maxed-out credit cards and a credit score that could make a bank cry. So she does what any self-respecting twenty-nine-year-old would do: she makes a plan to turn her entire life around in the next three hundred and sixty-four days.

Her “flight plan” does not include Brandon Bishop, the pilot who flirts with her at work (when he isn’t busy rescuing her from ditches). Sure, he’s kind, thoughtful, and funny, but for the first time in her life, Ainsley is putting herself first — she is not backsliding over a guy, no matter how charming he is.

As Ainsley chips away at her debt, navigates her parents’ never-ending dysfunction, and makes friends who aren’t her sister, she starts to wonder if independence means doing everything alone — or if it means choosing people worth trusting, even if that makes her a little airsick.
